Salamander Heaters - A Poor Choice

Mobile Air does not use salamander units due to the fact that they create an increase in moisture levels, which inhibits finishes, such as paint and mud, from drying. More importantly, salamander units should not be used because they cause unsafe work conditions. Some of the dangerous issues caused by salamander heating units include:

  • Slip & Fall Hazards - Created from increased condensation on walls, ceilings, and floors .
  • Electrocution Risks - Due to standing water formed from excessive condensation.
  • Carbon Monoxide Dangers - Units produce more than 50 parts per million (ppm), which can cause headaches & dizziness. OSHA standards prohibit worker exposure to more than 50 ppm averaged during an 8-hour time frame.
  • Gas Leak Threat - From moving units to manage cold spots created by unit’s tendency to have a chimney effect.

Because of the saftey concerns, as well as the quality control issues, Mobile Air avoids using salamander units in our fleet. Let us help you find a more effective solution to your portable heating needs, call Mobile Air at (888) 474-4340.
